Open Source
I spend most of my spare time working in Open Source projects, writing my own stuff, contributing patches, helping in mailing lists, IRC, etc. Open Source is all about knowledge sharing and collaboration, something I strongly believe makes for a better society.
I have been into Perl for some years. I am a CPAN author, and former leader of Barcelona.pm. Taught a Perl semester for seven years at the University of Barcelona as a part-time lecturer, that was something vocational I did in my spare time. Back in 2006 I published an article about the intricacies of newlines for O'Reilly's ONLamp.com.
Nowadays I am into Ruby on Rails, a kick-ass web development framework for Ruby. I have been around Ruby on Rails since 2005. I am a Rails core team member, and the author of Rails Contributors. Also honored to have been presented a Ruby Hero Award in RailsConf 2010, and to be the president of SRUG, which organised the European Ruby Conference 2009 (EuRuKo 2009), held in Barcelona.
Ruby on Rails Consulting
I have over 10 years of professional programming experience, and have been working with Ruby on Rails since 2005. In addition to my personal involvement in the Ruby on Rails project itself, I cofounded the software company ASPgems in 2006 where we did dozens of Rails projects.
Nowadays I am an independent Ruby on Rails consultant, my services include:
- Migrations to Rails 3
- Code reviews
- Mentoring
- Refactorings, best practices, idiomatic Rails
- Development
- Book reviews
